This month on Photo Play: April showers bring… umbrellas.
Last Week on Photo Play: Foreign Correspondent (1940)
Coming Next: Once Upon a Time in China (1991)
You know, I’ve still yet to watch this film…
I hear that it’s one of the best films ever. I might watch it this month. :O)
It is and you should. :-)
I love it although/because I don’t agree with the majority interpretation of the story as tragic romance.
By the way to anyone reading: Bragging rights if you can guess the upcoming umbrella movies. Three Photo Play Mondays to go. :D
Uh, the villains in the upcoming Resident Evil movie is the Umbrella Corporation. That and undead flesh eating zombies. Does this count?
I still believe that they’re making more RE movies. I ever liked the game series because they were never scary games – especially when compared to Silent Hill 2, Siren, and Fatal Frame 1+2. And the Re film series was a joke from the start. The first one was terrible, the second was even worse; the third was horrible and the fourth was the biggest joke of them all. Now they’re making more and more…
I never understood the Umbrella Corp. What are they trying to do in the grand scheme of things?
Wow, this topic derailed…
Is there a more famous movie umbrella than in Mary Poppins? I ‘m trying to place an image from an anime with animals/creatures using umbrellas as parachutes. My Neighbor Totoro?
@Ken: You know this feature is for movies I LIKE right? ^_^
@Miriam: Good ones! “Totoro” has a perfectly delightful umbrella scene at a bus stop.
Singin’ in the Rain is my guess, though last month I was waiting for Treebeard the Ent. Of course, you made more creative choices! Therefore, Singin’ might not be on your list. :)
There’s a Jet Li film where he fights with an umbrella (could be Once Upon a Time in China) or maybe I’m thinking of the Donnie Yen featured film Iron Monkey…
And linking back to Foreign Correspondent, there’s the umbrella scene near the beginning…
@Michelle: I can’t believe I forgot about Treebeard! If I ever do an encore tree month I’ll make it up to him.
@Nir: Correct on both counts. The umbrella in “Iron Monkey” is an homage to “OUATIC”.
