I've heard complaints about Michel Gondry's writing; he may not be Charlie Kaufman, but he can sure spin a good yarn. I usually have a low interest or tolerance for goof-ball type movie antics, but I laughed and was won over by the movie's big heart. And, unlike many a more obviously serious film, it had me thinking about the big issues behind the story and wondering about the "what next" for their community and my own.
