I enjoyed all three films although the first is by far my favorite. All around great movie. I didn't realize the next installment had moved beyond the talking/wishing stage?

I, too love this film. I really like the trilogy and am looking forward to the fourth installment, where Ian McShane plays Blackbeard. Yay!!

You were a bit more forgiving with "World's End" than I was, Helen. I grew tired of seeing the flesh-and-blood mortal pirates and Navy officers play second fiddle to the CGI supernatural slugfests.

The resolution to the Davy Jones problem struck me as a weak escape that was made more confusing by the post-credits sequence (the writers admit to massive misinterpretation of that subplot as a result of cut scenes). My brother and I thought of two alternatives that would have been a bit more satisfying. Although maybe this is just a testimony to how unlikable Nighy was as the villain - harsher comeuppance was needed, I guess.

The climactic final ship battle was a thrill though and I liked seeing the characters again, but I felt like it was a letdown after the second.

Chow Yun Fat with nothing to do - what a waste! It was gorgeous to look at though and had enough swordplay and seafaring swashbuckle to surfeit the most ardent fan of pirate movies.
A tiny nit to pick with the overlong camera on the East India Company villain as he repeatedly mutters "it was just good business" as his ship goes down. Was someone trying to sneak in some political content here? Do we really think that Pirates III is about anything except big box office? Perhaps it's a caution that the summer blockbuster is the "good business" that might sink the good ship Hollywood.
