Okay, now that I'm feeling a little better, maybe I can articulate what I didn't like about this movie.

I think its main failing was an overabundance of plot. We do not need to know the complex backstories for each of the main characters (especially since some of them were on screen for such a short period of time). There was just simply too much going on here. Carnahan weaved over a dozen interesting threads here, any one of which could have made a good movie. But all together, we just get a tangled mess.

Finally, why did every character, no matter how minor, need some sort of quirk? I think Jason Bateman's character epitomizes what was wrong with the movie. First of all, I can't explain his role in the movie, because at that point, my brain was full. I could not process any new information. And second of all, his quirks were amusing, but completely distracting and unnecessary.

I'm not even that big of a Guy Ritchie fan, so maybe I just don't like this style. But, I will agree that the two Guy Ritchie films I've seen ("Snatch" and "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels") are a lot better than this one.

I'm willing to concede that our opinions are flip-flopped when it comes to "Domino" and "Smokin' Aces." I still contend that Tony Scott let "Domino" run rampant without any regard to its rapid changes in tone or the easily misunderstood plot. "Smokin' Aces" is the smarter brother to "Domino," IMGO.

Gee, sounds like this should have been your review for Domino. I still think it's a practical joke that you panned that movie. Of course you also overpraised Half Nelson. :P You whacky guy, James. This movie was more American Guy Ritchie than anything else. I hardly see any Tarantino in it, other than the sudden violence, because he's a much better writer than Carnahan and Ritchie put together. Alas it was still entertaining, especially for those with ADD and shocking enough for dates to leave prematurely. Wait, is that my thoughts on Domino?

I liked Tarrantino- though violent- it was fast , funny , and..........
different.
Then came the generics,
there was Get Shorty and other assorted movies,
Finally
Guy Ritchie gave it a rough London edge to jazz up the syle-
What next-
Nothing
the genre is over-
UGH please stop it with these moves
please.........
